| IN LIGHT OF all that has been going on, with my play coming up soon and all, and an inspiring conversation, I have decided to write my post, and contest submission on (drum role) dating and the first kiss. (gasp!) My first reason for submitting this is my double for the play. He has recently gotten back into a relationship with an ex, and I just wondered, 'why? what is with all this young teen (13-16ish) dating? why do such young people as myself date?'. I've never dated before, (and trust me, I could have, if I wanted to), and I am fine. I mean, sure, I like a girl, (what guy doesn't?) but we're just friends, and I am fine with that, for the time being. Now, maybe once I graduate high-school, you know, I could start dating, with the right person. but that's another time and place. Dating, in my mind, is something to take seriously between two people, not a 'hey, you go to my school and your cute, so lets date' type thing. That may have been a bit exaggerated, but that's the type of thing I am talking about.
I am a sucker for terrible nick teen shows (NOT hannah montana or degrassi) and, because of valentines day, they had a special nick 'kissathon' and one episode was on the topic of a first kiss. This episode disgusted me! These three kids have a show, and one kid publicly announced that the other had not kissed a girl. (They are around the 8th grade). The next day at school, everyone makes fun of the pathetic little kid who has never kissed someone before. Even the 5th graders joined in on the teasing. If those fifth graders have been kissed by a boyfriend before, then something is seriously wrong. Eventually, the one kid who announced that (sam, a girl), and the kid who hadn't kissed anyone (fred) are alone on a balcony and it comes out that sam has not kissed anyone either. So they decide to kiss each other and " get it over with."This is NOT how a first kiss should be.
Dating (which has A LOT to do with first kisses) is, sadly (but shouldn't be,) a social thing. What dating should be and what dating once was, was courtship. A relationship between to people who are considering spending the rest of their lives together. That is why I am not taking this so lightly, because marriage IS a permanent relationship which SHOULD NOT be terminated under any circumstances, and is ONLY between ONE man and ONE woman. Anyway, dating or courting, like I said, is a relationship between two people who are considering being with each other forever. which is why I had such a problem with the 5th graders making fun. There is NO CHANCE at all that any 10 year old is thinking about marriage. Why kiss someone who you don't think you might spend the rest of your life with? I mean, really? For social reasons? You should LOVE someone before you even think about kissing them. And you gat to make sure it is love, and not hormones. Some people even say that your first kiss should be at the alter. Now, I agree to a degree. A peck on the cheek or lips? Fine. Actually kiss-kissing, like making out? That is post-alter stuff.
So, I have established so far that: A. Dating should be only a serious relationship between to people, (one male and one female), who are considering being with each other for "as long as they both shall live". B. You should not kiss someone who does not fit into the category of point A. C. You should love someone before even thinking about kissing them, and this should be love from the heart, not from the hormones. D. If you meet all requirements of A. B. and C., then the kisses should be very mild (E.G. peck on the lips) until wedlock, and than you can knock yourself out. (With a lot more than kissing, if you catch my drift.)
So, what did you guys think? I know I am such an 'old fashioned' kind of guy, but not every thing back then was bad, contrary to popular belief. If you have a different opinion, please share it with me. (It is always good to have an open mind!) Also, If anyone has a story of his or her firs kiss, I would love to hear it! Remember, though, brush your teeth and smile randomly! | | |
| I was talking to one of the mockers, and we got on to the topic smoking. I was telling her that smoking should be illegal (considering all the other illegal drugs). all of you agree that smoking is addictive, correct? smoking is dangerous to the smoker's (and other people's) health. smoking does change the behavior/attitude of the smoker. these are all well-known, proven facts. these are also symptoms of other highly illegal drugs such as marijuana. so, why or why not should smoking be illegal? | | |
| I might actually be going to two dances. so, that would be fun. but anyway, the 21st is our mock trial tournament. so, be praying that we go to state. the tournaments are like this: regional>state>national. because our team is brand new (rookies), we are hoping to make it to state. that would be a huge victory for us. you can find our case @ http://www.tba.org/mocktrial/index.html , I am the bug man (parker maddox) and the druggie, (amari wilson.) be praying that we do well! btw, do you think I should go all black, or where the traditional tux for the dance? | | |
| sorry its been so long sense i updated. no internet access in orlando!!! grr. and we happened to be in orlando the coldest week of the month. like mid to lower sixties, compared to the mid 70s they had the whole rest of the month... anyway the hot tub was still warm! (nice). it was a two day trip to orlando because we stopped at my sister-in-law's appt. in Spartanberg, S.C. but because my two sisters(singer_20000 and soccer_d) and niece where also going, her car wasn't big enough, so we to the honda pilot. the honda, as you all know, uses a different key, therefore my 'in-law used a deferent key chain. so we arrive in spartanberg, and 'watdaya know, we don't have the key to her appt. crap. and it's like, 40 degrees out and we are stuck outside of our lodgings. anyway to make a long story slightly less long, we got the keys and were up and ready to go on our 10 hour drive (including lunch), to Orlando. that leads me to another story of how our gps put us into the middle of huge traffic and spit us out 10 exits away or 7 miles from our condo. the gps didn't know where the condo was and it was another 1 and a half hours till we got to the condo after we arrived in Orlando. I'll save the stay in orlando for my answer to todays (game show music) hard question!!! okay contestants, todays question is... 'on deviantart.com, you can find all kinds of art. all kinds... some of it very inappropriate. artists call it nude art, every one else calls it pornography. my question is which is it? where is the line between to two? should it be allowed on websites such as deviantart? anyway, remember to brush your teeth and smile randomly! P.S. readers, feel free to submit your own questions. | | |
| Hey! I'm back with my opinion to last week's question. I'll be writing this week's question thursday from orlando, FL!!!! sweet! a vacation in the middle of the school week. nice. anyway, should young kids (12-15,) read simi-explicit material such as in twilight? I, personally, think it depends on the context of the scene. In twilight, the risque parts are all pretty toned down, but more importantly, it happened inside of wedlock. I wouldn't let someone read read something like that if it was out of wedlock unless they were older(14-15), and had had "the talk," which includes, in my book, the importance of sex only inside of marriage. But, if they parents of said child deem the book appropriate, it is their choice. In short, yes, under some conditions, but in general, no. | | |
